The

Deleting a Boot Option
Based on what I had read beforehand, I had expected to get the boot menu option to boot into either OS, and was surprised I did not. When I am in XP, Do not use the escape key technique to install Vista and you will have a boot options menu showing "Older Version of Windows" and "Microsoft Vista".

Boot.Ini and recovery Console
Is it possible to install W2KPro in a way that it becomes a boot time option and that NT 4 is still an option until I am comfortable that it will all work? If so, is there a way to have this new OS have access to the slew of programs I have already loaded, or will I have to load them again for that OS?

The W2K boot, has more in common at this point with the W9x boot, in that you can hit a function key at the start of boot to get to the 'debugging' options. Here you get a VGA boot, and also a basic command line boot. :-) Hence the seperate boot options from WNT4, have disappeared. Best Wishes That makes sense.

Now, whenever I boot-up my system, I get the LILO boot menu 'first', instead of the Windows boot menu, and the system will auto boot to Mandrake if I don't manually switch it to Windows. I use Windows much more than Mandrake, so there are a several options I am considering: 1) Can I make Windows the 'default' boot

Slow laptop booting / Boot options
I am running W95 and have been trying to install W2000. It fails (due to known Asus A7V/Promise ATA100 problems), but has left me with the dual-boot options to start W95 or the W2000 Setup. I have run fdisk /mbr but the option remains. Anyone help me to get back to a straight W95 automatic boot?

Other bad things: no defrag. checkdisk only from boot disks. And, several more. Checkdisk can be run at boot time with the /F option if an issue occurs. Otherwise, it's not possible to run it with the /F option on the boot filesystem from the OS that booted from that filesystem. This is a safeguard.

If yes, then use Vista boot Pro. Install it in XP. (you won't need it after you install the Vista boot). IF NO, then you need to choose your boot options in your bios. Why? Chances are you're here because you're running Windows Vista and want to do one of two things. Install a second OS or manage your boot
